Tobey Maguire

Tobey Maguire Born on June 27, 1975. This Californian native originally wanted to be a chef, but turned to acting after his mother encouraged him to take drama classes in high school.
One of Tobey's first big breaks was landing the lead role in the short lived sitcom Great Scott. When he was 17. He then took a big step and landed a small part in the critically acclaimed This Boy's Life, which launched the career of his good friend Leonardo DiCaprio.
After years of small roles that got him nowhere, Tobey was finally cast in movies where he could be his awkward self, and they worked. He grabbed everyone's attention in The Ice Storm, Deconstructing Harry and Fear and Loathing in Las Vagas, as well as widened his scope in his ability to act.
In 1998, he got free publicity when he and Leonardo sued R.D. Robb for trying to release Don's Plum an independent film that dealt with "uncomfortable topics," and was never meant to be released. The scandal served to put Tobey Maguire in the headlines, and it also linked him with DiCaprio for his multitude of fans.
Maguire's first starring role was in 1998's Pleasantville, starring opposite Reese Witherspoon. He went on to star in the award-winning Cider House Rules (1999), but his biggest hit to date came with Spider-Man (2002), a blockbuster that earned an astounding $815 million at the box office worldwide. He then played real-life jockey Red Pollard in the critically-acclaimed true story Seabiscuit (2003) before reprising the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2 (2004).
When not on location, Maguire a vegetarian who enjoys yoga, chess and poker, lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Jennifer Meyer. They have a daughter and a son together.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron Born on August 7, 1975, in rural Benoni, South Africa, to co-owners of a road construction company, Charles and Gerda. The Afrikaans-speaking family lived on a working farm outside of Johannesburg, and although Theron's childhood chores included tending livestock, her passion for dance became evident early on. To foster her artistic leanings, Theron began ballet lessons at age six. Her parents encouraged her burgeoning talent, and by age 12, she was sent to a Johannesburg boarding school to study dance.
Hollywood Success:
As Theron became more of a Hollywood presence, she was cast alongside Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves in The Devil's Advocate (1997). In 1999, Theron landed a string of roles in notable films, including The Astronaut's Wife opposite Johnny Depp, and The Cider House Rules with Tobey Maguire. In 2001, she reteamed with Reeves for the tearjerker Sweet November, and two years later she starred opposite Mark Wahlberg in the heist thriller The Italian Job.
(2003). However, her performance in 2003's Monster a biopic about serial killer Aileen Wuornos—earned her widespread respect. Theron gained close to 40 pounds for the role, and her gritty, gripping performance won her both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.
After her turn as Britt Ekland in The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004), Theron took on another strong drama, starring in 2005's North Country with Sissy Spacek and Frances McDormand.
With several other films under her belt, Theron returned to the superhero genre in 2008's Hancock with co-star Will Smith. In 2009, she will appear in the film version of Cormac McCarthy's The Road.

Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz Sanchez Born on April 28, 1974, in Madrid, Spain, Penelope Cruz studied classical ballet and then earned a place in Spanish cinema as a leading lady before moving to Hollywood at the age of 25. She soon landed roles opposite such stars as Matt Damon and Tom Cruise. Cruz won an Academy Award--becoming the first Spanish actress to do so--for her performance in Vicky Christina Barcelona.
Hollywood Success:
At the age of 25, Cruz made the bold decision to move to Hollywood, California. Fully in command and on top of her career, she took on the role of a control freak and successful chef in Woman on Top (2000) and as the romantic lead in Billy Bob Thornton's western, All the Pretty Horses (2000), both of which received critical success. Her next film, Abre Los Ojos, caught the attention of director Cameron Crowe and film icon Tom Cruise. Impressed by the script and the actress, the duo created an American remake of the film, called Vanilla Sky (2001). The movie helped make Cruz a crossover success. During this time she also began dating her co-star, Tom Cruise, putting her firmly in American headlines.
Cruz proved she could hold her own across from heavy-hitting actors when she starred opposite Johnny Depp in Blow (2001). That same year, she appeared in Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001), and her performance earned her a nomination in the European Film Awards for Best Actress. Cruz's next film, Waking Up in Reno (2002), saw her play alongside fellow cast memberes Billy Bob Thornton and Patrick Swayze. The romantic comedy about two couples headed to a Monster Truck show received little box office attention. In 2005, the actress appeared in Sahara, a comedic adventure film. In real life, Cruz began a relationship with co-star Matthew McConaughey. The couple began a year long romantic relationship, but later split over conflicting film schedules.

Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe Born on 7 April 1964, Wellington, North Island, New Zealand, Russell has made his home in Australia since he was a small child. The son of movie set caterers, Russell got the acting bug early in life. Beginning as a child star on a local Australian TV show, Russell's first big break came with two films, the first, Romper Stomper (1992), gained him a name throughout the film community in Australia and the neighboring countries. The second, The Sum of Us (1994), helped put him on the American map, so to speak. Sharon Stone heard of him from Romper Stomper (1992) and wanted him for her film, The Quick and the Dead (1995). But filming on The Sum of Us (1994) had already begun. Sharon is reported to have held up shooting until she had her gunslinger-Crowe, for her film. With The Quick and the Dead (1995) under his belt as his first American film, the second was offered to him soon after. Virtuosity (1995), starring Denzel Washington, put Russell in the body of a Virtual Serial Killer, Sid6.7 a role unlike any he had played so far. Virtuosity (1995), a Sci-Fi extravaganza, was a fun film and, again, opened the door to even more American offers. L.A. Confidential (1997), Russell's third American film, brought him the US fame and attention that his fans have felt he deserved all along. Missing the Oscar nod this time around, he didn't seem deterred and signed to do his first film with The Walt Disney Company, Mystery, Alaska (1999). He has recently achieved even more success and awards for his performances in Gladiator (2000) and A Beautiful Mind (2001).

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds Born on 23 October 1976, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Ryan is the youngest of four children. His father, Jim, was a Vancouver food wholesaler. His mother, Tammy, was a retail-store saleswoman. Between 1991-93, Ryan appeared in "Fifteen" (1990) (aka "Fifteen"), a Nickleodeon series taped in Florida with many other Canadian actors. After the series ended, he returned to Vancouver where he played in a series of forgettable TV movies. He did small roles in Glenn Close's Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story (1995) (TV) and CBS's update of "In Cold Blood" (1996). However, his run of luck had led him to decide to quit acting.
One night, he ran into fellow Vancouver actor and native Chris William Martin. Martin found Ryan rather despondent and told him to pack everything: they were going to head to Los Angeles, California. The two stayed in a cheap LA motel. On the first night of their stay, Reynold's jeep was rolled downhill and stripped. For the next four months, Ryan drove it without doors. In 1997, he landed the role of Berg in "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" (1998). Initially, the show was reviled by critics and seemed desperate for any type of ratings success. However, it was renewed for a second season but with a provision for a makeover by former "Roseanne" (1988) writer Kevin Abbott. The show became a minor success and has led to additional film roles for Ryan, most notably in the last-ever MGM film, a remake of The Amityville Horror (2005). Ryan was engaged to Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, another Nickelodeon veteran, between 2004-2006.
